1Download and Install Handbake

Download the free program Handbrake.

Note: To rip encrypted DVDs, you need to install VLC player and make sure that you drag it to applications folder. HandBrake will dynamically load VLC's copy of libdvdcss if you have it in your Applications folder in Mac OS X.

2 Run it and insert DVD.

Insert the DVD you want to rip and launch HandBrake. Click the "Source" button to load your DVD to the program.

3Select Output setting

Select MKV files as output format and select other settings such as video quality, audio track, Audio Sample Rate, Bitrates, Picture Settings, etc.
